As part fulfilment of the professional practise module I need to actively seek out a gallery, artist or volunteer for an organisation relevant to my individual practice as well as put on my own exhibitions. Having done gallery west, I wanted to seek a sculpture artist to work with or obtain a gallery position where I can learn about ad hoc duties, administrative or commercial skills needs for the running of a gallery. Unfortunately after endless emails I did not find a sculptor who even so much of needed free labour- however an amazing opportunity arose from the occasion. I was offered internship with the commercial print gallery and studios called "Pure Evil and Jealous". They have two stores, one in Shoreditch London, the other in Croutch End. I have been working in the Croutch end gallery for two weeks now.
Just from two weeks I have already fallen in love with the world of commercial print. Before I did not appreciate the sentiment or delicacy of these works on paper that are celebrated so highly. Jealous has a HUGE range of famous artists including David Shrigley and Magda Archer.
Will see where this opportunity takes me !
